When we created FFØR, our commitment to creating vegan-friendly products was at the core of our mission. We want to produce products that yield gorgeous and professional results without the need for any animal-based ingredients. We are very passionate about our brand and ethical values, which are reflected in our products, packaging, and how we handle things as a brand.

It should come as no surprise then that we jumped at the opportunity to partner with the Recycle My Salon initiative, a new national recycling scheme available to both salons and freelance hairdressers!

WHAT IS RECYCLE MY SALON?

A not-for-profit scheme, the Recycle My Salon initiative has been created in association with the Hairdressing and Beauty Suppliers Association (HBSA). The aim is to reduce the amount of aluminium waste going into landfill by recycling things like colour tubes, foils, aerosols, and cans – all of which are much used in the world of hairdressing.

Due to its properties, aluminium is actually quite easy to recycle, and it can easily be melted and reformed into something new without losing any of its beneficial properties. By recycling aluminium this way, a staggering 95% of greenhouse gas emissions can be saved that would otherwise have been produced when making the material from scratch.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The recycling scheme is actually very easy for the salons and freelance hairdressers involved. You can order a recycling pack, consisting of 5 bins, 1 lid and 25 sacks made from recycled materials. Just assemble a bin, which has been made from 100% recyclable materials.

Once you have a full bin, you only have to arrange a pick-up time and date with the recycling partner, First Mile. They will come at a time and date when it suits you best and then will take your full bin bag of aluminium waste to the recycling centre.

You can find the full details on the website here: https://www.recyclemysalon.co.uk/

WHERE DO I SIGN UP?

Like what you’re reading? You can sign up for the initiative on the website. If you absolutely love it as much as we do, you can even sign up for marketing materials so you can promote the scheme to your own network once you are a partner.
